Dennis became a father through surrogacy in Colombia

Dennis and his husband have always dreamed of becoming parents. When they started their surrogacy journey, they knew it would be a significant life change.

– Before we began the process, it was very exciting but nerve-wracking. After all, it was a decision that would fundamentally change our lives. But above all, we felt joy at finally getting the chance to become parents, says Dennis.

The choice to go through the process with Nordic Surrogacy was easy for them.

– We had been in contact with Nordic Surrogacy for several years at Stockholm Pride Park and felt secure with them. We trusted that they provided good support and guidance, so we didn’t even look at other options.

The fact that the surrogacy process would take place in Colombia also felt right for the couple.

– It was more affordable than other countries, but we still had an incredibly safe and professional experience. This made us feel secure throughout the journey.

During their time in Colombia, they received invaluable support from Nordic Surrogacy, both from Sweden and on-site in Bogotá.

– Our local coordinator helped us with everything. Since we don’t speak Spanish, and English isn’t very common in Colombia, it was invaluable to have her there. She made sure all legal processes were handled correctly and that we always had someone to turn to.

When their son was born, it was a transformative experience.

– We were completely overwhelmed with joy, but also a bit stunned. Suddenly, we were no longer just two married men – we were parents. It took me three weeks to really understand it deeply, but once it settled, I couldn’t even remember what life was like before.

The legal process after the birth went smoothly, and just over a week later, they could fly home to Sweden as a family.

– We received help from both lawyers and our on-site coordinator who ensured everything was done correctly. It was a great comfort.

If he were to give advice to others considering surrogacy through Nordic Surrogacy, it would be not to wait too long to start the process.

– You never know how long it might take, as it involves a pregnancy. For us, it took two years from signing the contract until we held our son in our arms and sometimes it can take longer than that.

– If we decided to do it again, I would without a doubt choose both Colombia and Nordic Surrogacy.
